Thorsten Hertog

Thorsten Hertog is an award-winning Creative Producer and Artistic Director, working across film, festivals, digital art and live performance. As co-founder of SOFT CENTRE, an experimental art, sound and new media organisation based in Eora/Sydney, Thorsten has curated and produced major festivals, programs and commissions for the likes of Dark Mofo, Vivid Sydney, Sydney Opera House, FIBER [Amsterdam], Svbkvlt [China], CTM [Berlin] and ZeroSpace [New York]. Described as a ‘niche utopia’, the flagship multi-day event at White Bay Power Station is widely celebrated as one of Australia’s most adventuorous boutique festivals, included in Resident Advisor’s Top Ten festivals globally (June 2023), Winner of FBi Radio’s ‘Music Event of the Year’ (2017 & 2018) and recently featured in ABC’s ‘Art Works’ program alongside SJ Norman and Back to Back Theatre.

Thorsten’s talents in artistic directing, curation, event design, grant writing and project management also extend to his commercial film practice, having produced and directed TVCs and digital campaigns for the likes of Photoplay, FINCH, Entropico and Red Bull. In his spare time, Thorsten devotes his energy into making and releasing music with his band Sinus, curating eclectic net.label - ULTRAVIRUS - and DJing as Thick Owens.
